Efficacy of Integrated Pranic Chakra Balancing and Physical Therapy Manual Modalities on Myofascial Pain Syndromes and Energetic Depletion in Competitive Indian Classical Dancers

ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND: Competitive Indian classical dancers are subject to extreme musculoskeletal demands, often resulting in Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome (CMPS). Traditional physical therapy (PT) frequently focuses on structural tissue release but may overlook the accompanying state of "energetic depletion"—a psychosomatic exhaustion characteristic of high-performance artistic athletes. Integrating vibrational energy medicine, such as Pranic Chakra Balancing (PCB), with physical therapy modalities offers a novel, holistic approach to recovery.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of an integrated protocol combining Pranic Chakra Balancing and physical therapy manual modalities (myofascial release, trigger point therapy) on pain reduction, functional mobility, and energetic recovery in competitive Indian classical dancers.
METHODS: In this randomized controlled trial, 60 professional Indian classical dancers (aged 18–35) with diagnosed CMPS were assigned to either an experimental group (Integrated PT + PCB) or a control group (Standard PT alone). The experimental group received bi-weekly sessions comprising 30 minutes of manual myofascial techniques followed by 30 minutes of standardized Pranic Chakra Balancing. Pain intensity (Visual Analog Scale), functional movement (goniometry/range of motion), and subjective energetic markers (Perceived Exertion and Wellness Index) were assessed at baseline, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks.
RESULTS: At the 8-week follow-up, the integrated group demonstrated significantly greater improvements in pain reduction (p < 0.001) and range of motion compared to the control group. Furthermore, participants in the integrated cohort reported a marked decrease in "energetic depletion" scores and faster restoration of pre-performance baseline energy levels. The synergy between physical tissue release and chakra-based energetic stabilization suggest that balancing the subtle energy body may facilitate deeper, more sustained myofascial relaxation and faster autonomic nervous system recovery.
CONCLUSION: The integration of Pranic Chakra Balancing with traditional manual therapy provides a superior therapeutic outcome for competitive dancers suffering from CMPS. This study suggests that addressing both the physical myofascial restrictions and the energetic depletion associated with the high-performance demands of classical dance significantly improves long-term rehabilitation success and performance longevity.
